The Controller will serve as the senior financial leader responsible for all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions at Elevate Windows & Doors. This position plays a critical role in driving financial integrity and supporting strategic decision-making in a fast-paced window and door manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing finance experience, strong technical accounting knowledge, and the leadership presence to partner effectively with operations, sales, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Own the annual budgeting and forecasting process; develop variance analysis and rolling forecasts to support operational decision-making.
- Design, implement, and maintain a robust system of internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
- Manage and coordinate external audits (financial, tax, and compliance); serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Partner with operations leadership to develop and monitor cost accounting models, standard costing, and manufacturing overhead allocations specific to window and door production.
- Analyze product margins, material costs, labor efficiency, and scrap/waste to identify cost reduction opportunities across manufacturing operations.
- Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and oversee treasury functions including credit facilities and capital expenditure planning.
- Ensure sales tax, payroll tax, and other statutory filings are completed accurately and on time across all applicable jurisdictions.
- Supervise and develop the accounting team; establish performance expectations, provide coaching, and build departmental capacity.
- Support M&A due diligence, integration activities, and ad hoc financial analysis as directed by senior leadership.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience in a manufacturing environment; experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master's degree (MBA or MAcc) strongly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control frameworks (COSO or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience leading annual budgeting, multi-year forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Proven track record managing external audits and working with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
- Hands-on experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing setting, including standard costing, variance analysis, and overhead allocation.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills; experience managing and developing a small accounting team.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, growth-oriented manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the building products, windows and doors, or fenestration industry strongly preferred.
- CPA designation preferred; candidates actively pursuing CPA licensure will be considered.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Fenevision experience a plus) and advanced Excel skills; experience with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) preferred.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position based at our manufacturing facility. The role works across departments and shifts and requires both office-based planning and plant-floor engagement.
