Position Overview:
The Controller will lead and manage the accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting strategic decision-making across a growing, multi-site healthcare environment. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, overseeing day-to-day accounting functions including payroll, financial close, and compliance.
The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, required experience in payroll, and preferably experience in healthcare or ABA settings, particularly within insurance billing and reimbursement models.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience at a Controller or Senior Accountant level
- Strong payroll experience (required)
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity and attention to detail

Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Management:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable healthcare regulations
- Develop and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support leadership decision-making
- Partner with leadership on strategic financial initiatives
Operations & Oversight:
- Oversee billing processes, including insurance, Medicaid, and private pay
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals
- Assist with system improvements and accounting software optimization
- Manage and mentor accounting staff (if applicable)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare services, behavioral health, or ABA organizations
- Knowledge of Medicaid and insurance reimbursement processes
- Experience in multi-location or high-growth organizations
- Prior supervisory experience
- CPA or CPA-track (not required)
