About the Role:

The Controller is responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting for the company. This includes implementing accounting policies and procedures, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Also works closely with other members of the management team to provide financial analysis and support for decision-making. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Essential Functions:

• Maintains and develops system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of accounting controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results
• Performs month-end close entries and account analysis based on a closing schedule
• Manages and forecasts cash flow, based on upcoming projects, expenditures, investments, and tax liabilities
• Conducts monthly financial project review meetings with respective project management teams.
• Assists with yearly audit and preparation of tax returns by external CPAs
• Analyzes and manages the process for work in progress (WIP) reporting and closing process
• Responsible for oversight of the full cycle of accounts receivable and accounts payable, as well as assisting in billing with the project management teams
• Performs margin analysis on projects for improved cost management and increased profits
• Creates and analyzes financial reports and ad hoc reporting as required
• Any other financial tasks required by Senior Management or ownership
• Interface with Board of Managers, Lenders, and Stakeholders accordingly
• Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS, BA, or MBA in Accounting required, CPA preferred
• 3+ years of construction accounting experience, or 10+ years of other accounting experience
• Strong understanding of construction industry accounting principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong account reconciliation skills and high attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proactive, with a sense of urgency when necessary
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Proficient in Construction ERP based software
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
