This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Contracting / Procurement Manager positionin our Construction Management group for a major health care project in Houston, Texas.
Your Impact
Supporting our project’s client through the planning, delivery and execution of construction. The Contracting / Procurement Manager position will advise the owner on methods of developing the project and the project finance.
Working with owner to evaluate project delivery, contractors, suppliers, and determine the optimal method to fit the owner’s needs.
Serve as support to the client’s project manager, interfacing with stakeholders to determine the goals and constraints for the implementation of their tasks.
Developing procurement strategies and drafting of procurement documents for the project, including, but not limited to, Requests for Information, Requests for Qualifications and Requests for Proposals.
Support the owner’s project manager with stakeholder coordination across contractors, design teams, and client representatives.
Collaborating in a teaming environment with other stakeholders for the successful procurement of deliverables, including supporting communications with, and providing appropriate technical advice to engineers, contractors, and internal-client procurement teams.
Contribute to contract development, negotiation, and dispute resolution processes.
Promote innovation in construction techniques, materials, and technologies to improve field delivery.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in construction management or relevant field
10+ years’ experience in directly relevant endeavors
Experience with management of medical infrastructures in at least one sector: transportation, water, power and energy, or social infrastructure
Deep knowledge of construction laws, codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
Proficiency in interpreting complex contract documents, scopes, specifications, and project controls data.
Experience resolving high-stakes technical disputes and supporting litigation or claim strategies.
Ability to influence executive stakeholders and contribute to enterprise-wide construction decisions.
Expert-level understanding of cost control, schedule management, and integrated project delivery frameworks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical issues for diverse audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively across business lines, and client sectors to achieve integrated project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of direct experience with construction and program management related to medical infrastructure
Direct experience with Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR) and alternative delivery methods including progressive design-build
Familiarity with federal, state, and local permitting processes and environmental compliance requirements.
