Compliance Analyst
Reporting to the VP, Compliance, the Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting Butterfield in following recognized best practices in Compliance and Financial Crime.. The Compliance Analyst will be responsible for providing support to the Compliance team in a variety of functions including Investigations, Monitoring & Surveillance; Quality Assurance testing and Customer Due Diligence.
About the Team
The Compliance department ensures that the Bank complies with all applicable laws and regulations in the jurisdictions it operates, and it plays an essential role in helping to preserve the integrity and reputation of our business. It is responsible for establishing regulatory policies within the Bank and monitoring changes in economic conditions and regulatory requirements keeping Butterfield is up-to-date with the latest thinking.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting with queries from Business and Compliance teams related to suspicious activity, customer due diligence, transaction analysis, compliance assurance testing, surveillance, and monitoring orders.
- Aiding in Compliance QA processes as assigned.
- Assisting with global deployment of Compliance training requirements and ensuring compliance training is completed.
- Supporting emerging regulatory frameworks and assessing impacts on risk oversight processes and technology/tools.
- Assisting with reviewing and updating Compliance policies and procedures.
- Maintaining the global tracker of Group Compliance policies and procedures.
- Reviewing and updating documents and circulating for commentary as required.
- Aiding with the training and induction of new members to the team.
- Conducting training presentations on various Compliance topics.
Your qualifications and skills include:
- Three years of experience in financial services or a degree-level education with a minimum of one year experience in financial services.
- Understanding of the role of Compliance and Risk Management within financial services firms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality work product within tight timeframes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to facilitate the data collation required for investigations, monitoring and surveillance.
- High ethical standards with the ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information with absolute discretion.
- Ability to identify trends and areas of risk and provide written examples to Compliance teams to facilitate discussion and/or reporting.
