The Personnel Board is seeking a Compensation Analyst to perform professional compensation and salary administration work in support of the Classification & Compensation (C&C) Department. This position conducts market benchmarking and compensation analyses, evaluates salary data, prepares compensation recommendations, and assists with classification, organizational, and compensation-related projects for Merit System agencies. Responsibilities include interpreting and applying Personnel Board Rules and Regulations and Pay Plan provisions, consulting with agencies on compensation matters, preparing reports and supporting documentation, maintaining compensation records, and coordinating compensation studies and salary administration activities. Employees exercise independent judgment within established compensation policies, procedures, and public sector compensation practices to support fair, equitable, and market-informed compensation administration.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience conducting compensation market analyses (i.e., collecting and evaluating market data and equity considerations) and participating in salary surveys.
Experience creating and reporting compensation analyses results, including making recommendations based on market studies, salary surveys, and other compensation data.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
Conducts comprehensive market benchmarking analyses by reviewing job classes within occupational families, career progression series, organizational structures, and related classifications; evaluating duties, supervisory relationships, compensable factors, and internal alignment; and identifying appropriate benchmark matches across labor markets to support equitable and internally consistent compensation recommendations.
Conducts market analyses by researching and analyzing external salary survey data, evaluating labor market trends and compensation relationships, compiling and interpreting compensation information, and preparing salary analysis materials and recommendations to support evaluations of market competitiveness and salary administration decisions.
Prepares compensation reports, salary analyses, spreadsheets, summaries, Board item materials, and supporting documentation by compiling and interpreting compensation and organizational data using established methodologies and formatting standards to support compensation recommendations, organizational reviews, and Board-related actions.
Maintains, updates, validates, and analyzes classification, compensation, survey, and organizational data within Excel, Workday, and department tracking systems to support data integrity, reporting accuracy, compensation analyses, and operational activities.
Reviews and processes compensation-related requests, including Advanced Steps, Premium Pay requests, Step Adjustments, and related compensation actions, by evaluating supporting documentation, verifying compliance with compensation policies and procedures, and coordinating with agencies and higher-level staff to support timely and accurate processing.
Works collaboratively with agencies, Merit System employees, stakeholders, and the general public to identify, research, and evaluate classification, compensation, organizational, and salary administration issues by gathering information, reviewing workforce and operational concerns, interpreting and applying Personnel Board Rules and Regulations, Salary Administration Guidelines, and Pay Plan provisions, responding to questions and assisting in the development of recommendations and solutions consistent with established compensation practices and organizational objectives.
Assists higher-level staff with organizational development, workforce planning, classification studies, and compensation-related projects by gathering organizational data, preparing reports, tracking project activities, and supporting implementation of organizational and operational recommendations.
Reviews audit, survey, classification, and compensation-related forms, reports, and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and procedural compliance using established review standards and analytical techniques to maintain reliable data and reduce processing errors.
Coordinates workflow activities, tracks incoming classification and compensation requests, maintains related records and documentation, schedules meetings, and follows up on assignments related to audits, studies, organizational projects, and compensation initiatives to support efficient department operations and timely completion of work.
Updates internal process guides, workflow documentation, templates, and reference materials as classification and compensation procedures evolve to maintain accurate operational resources and support department consistency.
Participates in training and professional development activities related to classification, compensation, salary administration, organizational analysis, public sector HR practices, and job analysis methodologies to develop technical knowledge and analytical expertise.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job is primarily sedentary involving sitting for long periods of time, but may involve occasional walking or standing for brief periods. May involve occasional light lifting of items or objects weighing up to 25 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
