Position: Commercial Loan Underwriter/Credit Analyst
Department: Business Services
Reports to: Credit Admin Manager

The Commercial Loan Underwriter / Credit Analyst supports the evaluation and management of commercial lending activities by analyzing financial data for new and existing loan requests. This role assists in preparing loan presentations, conducting credit investigations, and developing comprehensive credit analysis to support sound lending decisions. This role supports Loan Committee administration, provides guidance on lending policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements while contributing to the growth and management of the commercial loan portfolio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Analyzes financial data related to new and renewal commercial loan requests
- Provides support with the expectation of increasing and managing a commercial loan portfolio.
- Assists in preparing loan presentations for loan officers for approval.
- Administration of Loan Committee.
- Conduct credit investigations, prepare credit approval reports and summarize credit analyses for review and decision Analyze and evaluate financial condition and credit worthiness of prospective and existing borrowers and borrowing entities.
- Prepare written analysis, summary and supporting documentation for credit decision or recommendation.
- Provide in-depth projections and financial analyses, including the performance of ‘what if’ scenarios that will test the reasonableness of all projections. (Stress-Testing)
- Work in partnership with commercial lenders to obtain all necessary information and clarification of financial analysis materials and resources.
- Track loan progress through the electronic system to ensure access to status is readily available to all involved.
- Provide tracking and updated information for manager’s review as needed.
- Assist processors and loan officers with interpretations of applicable policies, operational guidelines and questions on specific loan files.
- Effectively convey all relevant information in a timely manner.
- Responsible for compliance with all lending regulations, policies, and procedures

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position.
Experience and Other Requirements:
- One to Three years of experience in commercial lending, administration, and/or underwriting required
- Minimum 1 year experience in a Credit Union, bank, or comparable training program preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a financial environment analyzing business and personal financial statements stop here and tax returns;
- Experience and ability to work in a financial spreading system
- Must maintain expertise in commercial lending policies, procedures, and systems.
- Must maintain expertise in Excel and other software such as Meridian Link and Laser Pro required for generating accurate and timely documents and reports.
- Experience with Loan Origination Systems and spreading software
