This role will oversee a team of collections professionals while actively participating in escalated collection matters, process improvement initiatives, and firm-wide collection strategies.
What You'll Do:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5–6 collections professionals
- Manage day-to-day collections operations in a fast-paced legal environment
- Partner closely with attorneys, partners, and firm leadership to resolve collection issues and improve recovery efforts
- Handle escalated collection matters and complex client situations
- Monitor aging reports, portfolio performance, and collection trends
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce delinquency
- Collaborate with Billing, Accounting, and Finance teams to ensure timely resolution of billing-related issues
- Produce reporting and provide insights to leadership regarding collections performance and portfolio risk
- Support a culture of accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement
What They're Looking For:
- 5+ years of collections and/or accounts receivable experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing collections teams
- Prior experience within a law firm or professional services environment is required
- Proven ability to manage collections in a high-volume environment
- Strong experience working directly with attorneys, partners, and executive leadership
- Experience improving collection performance, reducing aging, and driving cash flow improvements
- Strong Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis
- Experience with Elite 3E, Aderant, or similar legal financial systems is highly preferred
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
