Chief Financial Officer / Head of Tax (CPA Required)
Location: New York, NY (On-Site)
Compensation: $150,000 + Bonus + Potential Equity
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable, experienced CPA to lead the tax function across multiple entities while serving as a trusted financial partner to the owner. This is a unique role combining Head of Tax and Personal CFO responsibilities. You will oversee tax operations across growing bookkeeping platforms while also managing financial visibility, reporting, and strategic insight across a portfolio of businesses. This is not a 9–5 role — it requires ownership, accountability, and someone who takes full responsibility for outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full tax function across multiple entities
- Review, finalize, and file all business and individual tax returns
- Oversee and manage a team of accountants
- Serve as the signing CPA on tax filings
- Act as a personal CFO to the owner across multiple businesses
- Review financial statements (P&L, balance sheets) prepared by bookkeeping teams
- Deliver clear monthly financial reporting and insights
- Track overall financial performance across entities (profitability, cash flow, net worth trends)
- Communicate directly with high-level clients on complex tax matters
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality control across all tax work
- Identify financial risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities
Requirements
- CPA license (required)
- 8–10+ years of tax experience
- Deep experience with both business and individual tax returns
- Strong knowledge of real estate tax
- Experience reviewing high volumes of returns and managing quality control
- Prior experience managing or overseeing a team
- Comfortable working across multiple entities and complex financial structures

- Base salary around $150,000
