Cash Application Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated Cash Application Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely posting of payments from clients, insurance, and patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of revenue cycle management, experience with financial reconciliations, and the ability to work collaboratively with accounting and other departments to maintain financial integrity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Post payments accurately and promptly from various sources including clients, insurance companies, and patients. 

·       Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure batches are posted correctly and that all unapplied cash is accounted for. 

·       Track daily cash sheets and save ACH transaction details, copies of checks, and payment advice. 

·       Ensure accurate reconciliation of accounts to balance at the end of each month. 

·       Obtain addenda information from Bank of America and payment advice from clients and payors. 

·       Postin and manage ERA files efficiently and understand how to interpret Explanation of Benefits. 

·       Coordinate with the accounting team regularly to ensure monthly financial balancing and resolve any discrepancies immediately. 

·       Assist in developing and implementing processes that improve and streamline financial procedures. 

·       Perform other duties assigned by the Associate Director of Billing and Senior Director of Revenue Cyle and Optimization 

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Education: High school diploma

·       Experience: 

o   Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in revenue cycle management.  

o   Proficient in reading Explanation of Benefits (EOB), posting ERA payments, and manual posting. 

o   Experience with processing credit card transactions. 

o   Proven ability to reconcile payments and batches effectively. 

o   Proven experience as a Cash Application Specialist 

COMPETENCIES

·       Strong understanding of revenue cycle management (RCM) software and financial reconciliation processes. 

·       Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry. 

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with various departments and external stakeholders. 

·       Ability to interpret financial documents such as ACH transactions, payment advice and EOBs.
