PositionSummary
At Stony Brook Medicine, the Cancer Clinical Trials Finance Manager will manage all clinical trials financial accounts and transactions for the cancer clinical trials office. Overseeing the CTO Finance Team, the incumbent will be responsible for training staff and oversight of all pre- and post-award management of cancer clinical trials. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and compliance of clinical trials budgets as well as execution of post award tasks to ensure timely and accurate receipt of clinical trial revenue.
Duties of the Cancer Clinical Trials Finance Manager may include the following, but are not limited to:
Manages staff in the CTO Finance group, including Training and Employee Time and Performance Management, ensuring all Stony Brook Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
Prepare reports for Clinical Trial leadership and Cancer Center Leadership as requested.
Ensures all applications and submissions for investigators certification and department sign off through myResearch
Reviewing and processing payments for each account for each study in SBCC CTO
Building and negotiating budgets with Sponsors for fee and services rendered for each clinical trial.
Financial reconciliation of accounts based on random for cause and study closure notifications to SBCC CTO leadership
Invoicing sponsor for fees and services
Assist in the review and account oversight and management of departmental accounts, including but not limited to RF and Fixed Price Balance accounts.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies governing clinical research finance.
Monitor financial system for compliance and system integrity.
Works with leadership to ensure research billing compliance.
Review and interpret clinical research protocols and develop budgets to capture trial activity.
Negotiate and manage complex study budgets ensuring accurate inclusion of study personnel, patient care services, research related procedures / supplies, indirect costs, and start-up costs are accounted for.
Review clinical trial agreements to identify language relating to clinical trial office deliverables (i.e. data entry timelines).
Perform monthly reconciliations of study accounts managed by Stony Brook Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office and monitor study account activity to ensure income and expense are within budget.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications\: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field. Please Note: Verification of degree (e.g., diploma or official transcript) is required for this role. Upload of documentation must be included with your application for consideration. At least 5 years of progressive finance position in clinical and/or higher education academia experience. Experience with Clinical Trials Finance that includes negotiating budgets and invoicing for clinical trials. Supervisory experience. Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel and Word. Detail Orientated and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PreferredQualifications\: Master’s degree in business, Finance or related field. Experience in Cancer Clinical Trials Finance. Experience working with WolfMART and/or OnCore and MyResearch.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $122,767 - $145,656 / year.
The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
