Business Manager / Full-Charge Bookkeeper

This is the Business Manager seat at Rapid Home Service Group in Bohemia: one person owning the engine room — the money moving in and out, the paperwork that protects the company, people files, vehicles and equipment, and the office itself. You handle the transaction-level work; a group finance team closes and stamps the books behind you. One boss and a clear scope.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You'll own the engine room of the business. When you run this seat well, the GM stays focused on sales and production, the books close on time, and nothing falls through the cracks.

• Run the money: every dollar in and out entered and coded — jobs set up within 24 hours of closing, same-day invoicing, deposits daily, vendor bills in within 48 hours, job costing with production, commissions prepped for approval
• Run people administration: every new hire onboarded right (I-9 done day one), every departure closed out clean, every file current, no review ever skipped
• Own compliance: a current COI on every sub — no COI, no schedule — plus licenses, insurance renewals, registrations, and the calendar that keeps it all from lapsing
• Run the office: mail, supplies, vendor accounts, and the hundred small things that keep the building working
• Keep the operating rhythm: a permanent seat in our leadership meeting, the scorecard current every week, one meaningful project per quarter

The hard part, named honestly: some days this job is chasing a certificate of insurance at 4:55 on a Friday — and keeping the show moving anyway. If that sounds beneath you, this isn't your seat.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

• One boss. You answer to the General Manager, period. Our finance team at the group level supports you with standards, tools, and expertise — they serve this seat, they don't pile onto it.
• A written deal on scope. You handle transaction-level work by the 5th business day of each month; the finance team closes and stamps the books by the 10th. You do the legwork, they put the stamp on it. That boundary is documented, not implied.
• A real path up. As the group grows, the best Business Manager here has a shot at moving up to lead this role across all our companies — launching the seat at each new one and hiring their own replacement.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Real full-charge bookkeeping experience — you've run books, not “helped with invoices”
• Construction, roofing, or home services background strongly preferred
• Fluent in QuickBooks; comfortable living in an accounting system and a CRM all day
• You can walk us through the messiest books you ever cleaned up — from memory
• Detail-obsessed and calm under volume; you flag your own errors before anyone finds them
• Self-directed — you build the system, run the system, and raise your hand early when something's off

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Every prior-month transaction entered, coded, and reconciled by the 5th business day — every month
• Books closed by the 10th with zero items chased back to you
• 100% COI compliance on every scheduled sub, every week
• Every check deposited within one business day; every invoice out same-day
• Zero missed compliance deadlines
• By day 90: two clean closes behind you, every process documented, and the GM can take a week off and nothing breaks

COMPENSATION

$70,000–$90,000 depending on experience.
