    POSITION:   Bookkeeper/Secretary to the Associate Principal 

    STARTING DATE:   TBD

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. The candidate must have earned a high school diploma
    2. Clerical experience or training preferred
    3. Experience in a school setting preferred

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:              

    1.  Work Year: Twelve-month work year.

    2.  Salary: Salary and fringe benefits to be established by the Board of Education.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    TITLE OF THE POSITION: 

    Bookkeeper/Secretary to the Associate Principal

    LOCATION OF THE POSITION: 

    Tinley Park High School

    REPORTS TO: 

    Associate Principal

    GENERAL DUTIES:

    1. The Bookkeeper/Secretary to the Associate Principal will assist in the maintenance of high-quality service for students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members.
    2. To assist immediate supervisor in carrying out the duties assigned to that position.
    3. To strive for positive and collegial public relations with the staff, students, parents and community members.
    4. To maintain confidentiality in all areas assigned to this position.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The candidate must have earned a high school diploma

    Clerical experience or training preferred

    Experience in a school setting preferred

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Possess the ability to speak clearly and be understood by others.
    2. Possess the ability to write legibly.
    3. Possess the ability and have received the training to effectively operate a computer, using a PC platform, at a level which would allow a candidate to pass a test administered for this position.
    4. Possess the ability to demonstrate effective telephone skills and the ability to operate a modern phone system.
    5. Demonstrate the ability to calmly address individuals using the services offered by the position.
    6. Possess an acceptable attendance history in prior positions and demonstrate the ability to meet the daily attendance requirements of the designated position.
    7. Possess a successful work history, supported by references, in a work setting similar to the position for which the candidate is applying.
    8. Demonstrate the ability to practice confidentiality with sensitive information.
    9. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to assist in establishing a positive climate in the work environment.

     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    The Bookkeeper/Secretary to the Associate Principal: 

    1. Assists the Associate Principal with those special duties that might occasionally arise.
    2. Records and manages all financial matters associated with building activity accounts.
    3. Records and manages all financial matters associated with district 228 accounts, which includes coordinating his/her efforts with the district central office.
    4. Prepares all ledgers, reports, and other materials for the annual audit of accounts.
    5. Records all cash transactions, maintains damage or fine-slip records, prepares cash boxes, reconciles monthly bank statements, and all other matters associated with money.
    6. Compiles and produces various reports such as free lunch, facility rentals, bus reports, housing and enrollment reports, etc.
    7. Handles all payroll matters in connection with police, summer camps and registration.
    8. Maintains records in connection to registration and withdrawal.
    9. Types all purchase orders and maintain budget records for the Associate Principal and Maintenance department.
    10. Plans and coordinates special annual activities such as graduation and senior citizen's day, which includes but is not limited to preparing attendance and graduation lists, printing of programs and tickets, seating assignment, correspondence, etc.
    11. Maintains specific records in connection with worker compensation, teacher checkout, building keys, Internet, insurance, work orders, and mailing.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Twelve-month work year.  Salary and fringe benefits to be established by the Board of Education.
