Position Summary
The Specialist, Retirement is a member of the firm’s Benefits team within the Human Resources department. The Specialist, Retirement plays a key role in assisting with the day-to-day administration of the firm’s retirement plans in the United States.
Essentials Duties and Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists with preparing the annual retirement budget
Conduct manual audits on contributions, deferral elections, and integrations
Prepare contribution tracker to provide quarterly contribution
Reviews monthly plan reporting
Assists with quality control procedures
Supports the Manager, Benefits & Retirement with annual audits, preparation of financial statements, and Form 5500s and other filings
Reviews and updates plan administration manuals
Assists with preparation of minutes from Benefits Committee meetings
Assists with special projects and performs other responsibilities relating to retirement administration as assigned by management
Enhances the overall brand of the Human Resources department through positive and effective interactions with personnel and outside vendors and consultants
Manage annual Partner 401(k) open enrollment
Qualifications / Position Requirements
Commitment to quality in work and to excellent client service
Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects simultaneously with limited direction
Commitment to handling information with appropriate confidentiality and sensitivity
Well-developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills
Strong excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft suite applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills with careful attention to detail and timely follow-through
Ability to adapt to a fast paced, changing work environment
Willingness to work outside normal business hours when required
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree; degree or coursework in retirement, accounting, and/or another quantitative field preferred
5 years’ experience in benefits or accounting, with at least 2 years’ experience that included retirement-related responsibilities
Robust experience in Excel, including with formulas, pivot tables, and troubleshooting
Compensation
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $95,000 - $115,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, anticipated assignment, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Davis Polk offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
