Ensign Services, Inc. (“ESI”) is a subsidiary of The Ensign Group, Inc. whose affiliated entities are considered national leaders in the fast-growing post-acute care industry. ESI provides service and support to over 400 facilities in the long-term care continuum that employ over 60,000 employees. ESI is known as the “Service Center” and provides the facilities and leaders it serves with “back-office” support in areas such as accounting, construction, compliance, human resources, information technology, learning and development, legal and risk management and recruiting. This structure allows the onsite leaders and caregivers to focus on day-to-day care and operational issues in their individual operations. What sets ESI apart from other companies is the quality of our most valuable resource - our people. We take our core values of Celebration, Accountability, Passion for Learning, Love One Another, Intelligent Risk Taking, Customer Second, and Ownership (“CAPLICO”) seriously. We want an individual in this role who will demonstrate these values through actions and words. About the Opportunity: Are you a data-driven expert who thrives on solving complex technical puzzles? Our Service Center Total Rewards Team is looking for a Benefits Analyst to serve as the backbone of our strategy team. You won’t just 'administer' benefits; you will architect system stability—managing everything from 401(k) data compliance and leave-related benefits to intricate HRIS integrations and premium reconciliations. This role is for the analyst who speaks 'system' fluently, excels at UAT, and takes pride in ensuring financial accuracy and seamless vendor performance. Join us in delivering service excellence where it matters most: to our affiliate partners. Specific Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Field affiliate collaboration: Serve as the bridge between the Service Center and our field affiliates. By fostering hands-on partnerships with site leadership, you will gather critical service intelligence, drive local program adoption, and ensure our Total Rewards offerings are deeply aligned with the operational needs of our growing affiliate network.
- Benefits Continuation: Serve as the go to resource for all benefits continuation needs (COBRA, ACA and/or benefits while on leave), acting as a strong partner for field affiliates and partners.
- Own the lifecycle of our benefits systems: You will act as the bridge between HR strategy and technical execution, drafting detailed functional specifications, overseeing HRIS work order prioritization, and maintaining the ultimate quality seal of approval through comprehensive end-user testing
- Total Rewards technical SME: Serve as the primary point of contact for technical issues within the benefits and absence modules. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system errors, working directly with the Business Systems Analyst team to identify root causes and implement fixes. Support final testing and sign off of integration files and technical program updates/changes to ensure seamless data flow between the HRIS and external carriers; proactively identify and remediate vendor data anomalies. When issues arise, be the point of contact for the HR Services team for solution partnership.
- Systemic data integrity: Deep-dive into vendor integration issues to prevent downstream errors. Utilize analytical rigor to audit the logic of benefit deductions and events, ensuring that issues are resolved in alignment with company policy and payroll cycles.
- Advanced Retro & Arrears Management: Act as the subject matter expert for benefits module-to-payroll calculations. Proactively audit, identify, and resolve discrepancies in premium deductions, executing complex retroactive adjustments and managing arrears recovery with precision and transparency.
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred; 2–5 years of experience in benefits administration, 401(k) data audits/integrations, and leave benefits continuation preferred.
- Technical Proficiency:
- HRIS Expertise: Deep experience in system troubleshooting, specification creation and testing (Workday preferred).
- Financial Accuracy: Proven ability to manage financial reconciliations, including retro-premium calculations and arrears management.
- Data Analytics: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex reporting).
- Regulatory Expertise: Strong working knowledge of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and ADA.
- Analytical Rigor: Exceptional ability to identify technical issues in automated workflows and perform detailed data comparisons.
- Communication: Ability to distill technical benefits/payroll issues into clear, empathetic, and actionable guidance for employees.
- Discretion: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest degree of integrity.
- Service First: We pride ourselves on a 'Service-First' culture. The ideal candidate isn't just an administrator; they are a partner to our affiliates, known for proactive follow-through, high-touch communication, and a relentless drive to deliver valued solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications (CEBS, CBP, SHRM-CP/SCP, CLMS. or PHR).
- Specific project experience managing end-to-end UAT cycles for HRIS benefits modules.
- Experience in a multi-site or field-affiliate organizational structure.
