Aviation Accounting Manager

About the Role:

The Aviation Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the financial operations specific to the aviation sector within the aviation industry. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with aviation-related regulations, and effective management of accounting processes related to aircraft operations, maintenance, and logistics. The manager will lead a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to maintain high standards of financial integrity and operational efficiency. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including operations, procurement, and regulatory compliance to align financial strategies with organizational goals. Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience (preferably in the aviation industry) with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial regulations applicable to the transportation or aviation industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and audit processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation.
• Experience working within the aviation industry
• Familiarity with aviation-specific financial systems and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Advanced skills in data analysis and financial modeling.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee all accounting functions related to aviation operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with federal aviation regulations and industry standards in all financial documentation and reporting.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements specific to aviation activities, identifying trends and variances.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to enhance their skills and ensure accurate and timely financial processes.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external auditors to facilitate audits and resolve any accounting discrepancies.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures tailored to the aviation sector to improve efficiency and control.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans related to aircraft operations, maintenance, and logistics.
• Support strategic decision-making by providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
