Overview
The Associate Accountant is responsible for calculating, analyzing, and processing sales commissions accurately and timely. This role partners closely with Sales, Finance, and HR to ensure commission plans are properly implemented, payments are compliant with company policies, and reporting is clear and reliable. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience working with complex compensation structures.
Responsibilities
- Calculate and process bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly and annual sales commissions in accordance with approved compensation plans.
- Maintain and validate commission data, including sales results, quotas, and adjustments
- Reconcile commission calculations to financial records and investigate discrepancies
- Partner with Sales and HR to interpret commission plans and ensure accurate application
- Prepare commission reports, analysis, and supporting schedules for leadership review
- Assist with the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of commission processes and controls
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and audit requirements
- Support month-end and year-end close processes related to commissions and incentives
- Respond to inquiries from sales personnel regarding commission calculations and payments
- Assist in system enhancements or implementations related to commission tracking (Microsoft Dynamics)
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (Required)
Years of Experience:
- 2–5+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience
- Commission or sales compensation experience preferred
Other Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics 365 preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
General office environment, involving sitting, walking, bending and standing is expected. Frequent hand use and occasional squatting, twisting, kneeling, and lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds individually is expected. This position is an in-office role, 5 days/week. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary to accomplish the workload.
