Job Summary
Helps ensure the Parish Accounting Services (PAS) department deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality accounting services to the Archdiocese of Detroit’s parishes and schools. Provides leadership and support to PAS staff by facilitating training and professional development, while also partnering with accountants to assist with parish accounting operations as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities

Foster strong relationships with parishes and schools through regular visits and a commitment to exceptional client service

Serve as a resource for PAS staff by assisting with complex accounting matters across parishes and schools

Collaborate cross-functionally with Archdiocese of Detroit departments on financial and administrative initiatives

Develop, refine, and implement accounting procedures for parishes and schools in alignment with direction from the Associate Director of Parish Financial Services

Provide hands-on support by backfilling and completing parish accounting work as needed

Review, audit, and ensure the accuracy and quality of departmental work output

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong MS Office Suite (especially Excel) and financial/accounting software skills

Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects at the same time

Strong financial analysis, organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Education and Experience Requirements
-
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience or education
-
Minimum 3 to 5 years of related work experience required

Professional experience within a Catholic parish, school, university, archdiocese/diocese or other not-for-profit environment a plus
Physical Requirements
-
May involve prolonged sitting and working at a desk with repetitive motion working on a computer

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time

May involve some standing, bending, and walking
Travel Required

Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit

- Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
