Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller and VP of Finance by managing the day-to-day operations of the general accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions. The Assistant Controller ensures the overall accuracy of the financial records through the timely closing of the books and the prompt reconciliation of all balances supporting these books and records. This is an onsite position in Fort Morgan, Colorado.

Responsibilities

• Monthly closing duties for financial statement components and other reporting requirements
• Reconciliation of general ledger balances to detail
• Organize data for leases, grants, and other special projects
• Supervise the accounting team while fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development
• Provide support for new system integration and implementation initiatives
• Assist with year-end audit preparation
• Adherence to internal financial controls plus all company policies and procedures
• Other responsibilities as directed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
• Supervisory experience is required
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
• Experience with financial statements, general ledger, monthly close cycle, account reconciliations, and accounts payable
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Solomon software experience and QuickBase Applications a plus
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team atmosphere
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record for the past 3-5 years, valid driver's license, clean or acceptable criminal background check, and clean substance screening
