Senior level position that performs the work and processing activities of an Accounts Payable function. Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintains accurate records and control reports.Responsible for preparing accounts payable register and related reports; leads day-to-day operations of work group in absence of the Section Leader. Has vast professional experience in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and exercises a wide degree of creativity and latitude.In the absence of the Section Leader, oversees and coordinates the effective and efficient management of the District's accounts payable function. Uses accounting knowledge and experience to facilitate customer account reconciliations, accounts/payable detail balancing, and invoice review for accuracy.Contributes to the development and maintenance of the accounts payable system and procedures; planning and setting priorities for current and future payment/disbursement objectives and goals. Possesses the technical expertise to provide for the improvement of payable procedures, use and provide technical oversight and training on mainframe accounting system to functional team.Uses extensive research and analytical skills to develop accounting spreadsheets, solve problems and provide information regarding payments and disbursements to customers.Assists the Section Leader to train and develops the Accounts Payable team in disbursement policies and procedures.Other Duties as Assigned.Employment GuidelinesBachelor's Degree in a related field and 2+ years' experience.  Experience in accounts payable or bookkeeping in a lead or supervisory capacity. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.License/ CertificationsValid State of Florida Driver's License required. Physical Requirements/ Working EnvironmentDue to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.Sedentary: Mostly in an office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products. Veterans' Preference:Pursuant to Chapter 295, Florida Statutes, candidates eligible for Veterans’ Preference will receive preference in employment for vacancies and are encouraged to apply.
