We are seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist II to join our team in Overland Park, KS. This position is a key member of the Corporate Accounts Payable team and is responsible for processing vendor payments, supporting bank statement reconciliation activities, assisting with invoice processing for remote sites, and providing exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Process vendor payment runs, including ad hoc payments, ensuring timely and accurate completion through all applicable systems.
- Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to convert vendors to electronic payment methods.
- Ensure all vendor payment activities comply with internal controls and approval requirements.
- Validate approval authority and process invoices and vouchers for payment within established timelines and in accordance with company policies.
- Process and monitor purchase order-based invoices, following up on outstanding receipts and approvals as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve payment and invoice processing issues while identifying root causes and recommending solutions.
- Process new vendor setup requests and changes to existing vendor information, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing reports, documentation, and analyses.
- Assist Treasury and Accounting teams with posting and reconciling bank statements.
- Manage the vendor inquiries mailbox, responding to internal and external Accounts Payable questions in a timely and professional manner.
- Support invoice processing activities for remote Compass Minerals locations.
- Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of Accounts Payable experience in a corporate environment.
- Experience processing high-volume invoices and matching invoices to purchase orders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-currency payment processing experience (USD and CAD).
- Experience with Coupa Accounts Payable systems.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience working with electronic payment platforms and vendor onboarding.
- Bank reconciliation or Treasury support experience.
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily office-based and requires regular use of computers and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this role, employees regularly sit, use hands and fingers to operate equipment, and communicate verbally.
