JOB SUMMARY

Under the intermittent supervision and direction of the Controller, the Payroll and Accounting Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of the payroll accounting sub-system, time keeping records, reports and forms related to payroll.  The Payroll and Accounting Specialist is also responsible for assisting with banking transactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Gathers all approved time and attendance reports, exception timesheets, and any additional pay documentation required to process bi-weekly payroll. Processes payroll biweekly and completes extra runs when necessary.

Prepares and processes all payroll tax related payments and payroll reports in accordance with regulatory guidelines and deadlines. Prepares and distributes W2’s for employees. Completes payroll related General Ledger journal entries timely.

Works closely with human resources to ensure employee information is updated timely and accurately.

Provides back-up coverage for the Accounts Payable Specialist and Staff Accountant.

Transmits checks through Remote Deposit Capture on a daily basis and prepares bank deposits for any cash receipts. Reconciles Daily Cash Journal to bank and credit card system reports.

Identifies and communicates potential areas of improvement. Participates in process improvement projects as required. Acts as Subject Matter Expert in areas related to Payroll.
