Wilkes University invites applicants for an Accounts Payable Coordinator in the Finance office. Reporting to the A/P Supervisor, the Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable function. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures, maintaining financial records, and providing excellent customer service to vendors and campus departments.
The Accounts Payable Coordinator reviews, codes, and processes invoices; verifies supporting documentation and approvals; and processes payments through various methods, including checks, ACH transactions, and wire transfers. The position reconciles vendor statements, researches and resolves discrepancies, maintains organized accounts payable records, and assists with audits and month-end and year-end financial processes. The Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for vendor and employee inquiries related to accounts payable and collaborates with departments across the institution to ensure efficient and accurate processing of financial transactions.
An associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with two years of professional office, bookkeeping, accounting, or accounts payable experience required. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills; exceptional attention to detail; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; and the ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive financial information. Accounts payable experience in a higher education environment and experience working with ERP or financial management systems are preferred.
