We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting team. This position plays a key role in ensuring vendors are paid accurately and on time while maintaining organized financial records.
Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing invoices, managing vendor payments, reconciling accounts, and supporting the accounting department with daily financial operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, enjoys working with numbers, and can effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and verify approvals.
- Prepare and process weekly check runs and electronic payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9s and payment information.
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoices and payments.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including account reconciliations.
- Track utility, maintenance, and recurring property-related expenses.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
- Support the accounting team with additional administrative and financial tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable experience; property management or real estate experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Experience with property management software is a plus.
