About this Opportunity!

The Montana Department of Livestock is looking for an Accounting Technician to join the Team in the Central Services Division. The Centralized Services Division provides management services to the entire department. These services include; budgeting, accounting, personnel management, information technology, payroll processing, purchasing, general services and supplies and the management of the Milk Control Bureau and the Livestock Loss Reduction and Mitigation Board.

Position Overview

The Accounting Technician is responsible for recording financial transactions, updating statements and checking financial records for accuracy. Duties include, but are not limited to the proper allocation of expenditures, the entry of accounts payable/ receivable data, vendor file maintenance, audits state credit cards and enters expense reimbursements. Additionally, this position is responsible for technical accounting duties such as interpreting data from the agency database and spreadsheets and has audit responsibilities for the income of various funding types. As a member of a team, this position provides back-up for other accounting functions within the agency as needed. The Accounting Technician is located within the Centralized Services Division and reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

The individual in this position will be performing job duties in a typical office environment. Work may need to work at a computer for 8 or more hours at a time. Minimal travel is required and telework may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
