TITLE: Community Education Accounting Technician
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Require high school diploma or GED
- Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting but 2-3 years of experience may be substituted.
- Require three years bookkeeping experience.
- Require knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Require knowledge of federal and state laws governing school district finance.
- Prefer experience preparing and entering journal entries.
- Prefer experience in administering financial aspects of federal and state grants.
- Prefer experience in troubleshooting, researching, and resolving financial and computer discrepancies.
- Prefer experience with financial reconciliation.
- Prefer computer experience in programs such as Windows, Word, Google, Excel, Adobe Suite.
- Prefer knowledge/experience in basic record/bookkeeping and office procedures.
- Need to be self-starter with ability to prioritize.
- Relate to children, staff and public in a positive manner.
- Maintain confidentiality of records, correspondence and conferences.
- Prefer experience in public online interfaces and tablet applications.
- Require proof of Mantoux TB test results (prior to first day of employment).
JOB GOAL:
Provide the Community Education Department with support in areas of finance, registration, customer service, and to provide technical training as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Categorize, allocate, and reconcile Community Education revenues, expenses, and cash.
- Provide technical training on FMS, EZChildTrack, and iPad Attendance Module.
- Receive record, report and deposit all tuition revenues.
- Calculate tuition rates for several programs with discounts and/or reduced rates.
- Maintain statistical and financial records, staff and student records.
- Administer registration process. Financial contracts, emergency and medical information, immunizations for each child in our programs. Including all Holiday Camps and Summer Camp.
- Coordinate contracts from approvals through to billing and reimbursement for DES and FTF Scholarship recipients.
- Input and maintain schedules for all preschool children in PowerSchool.
- Prepare legal documentation monthly, and as needed for camps to be in compliance with DES and FTF.
- Administer registration process, financial contracts, and track and record Tax Credit donations as related to INVEST enrollment and tuition.
- Delegate and review the waitlists and bi-monthly late payment list.
- Create and order all forms, including change in program, non-contracted care, late pick up, etc.
- Perform all financial responsibilities associated with developing, monitoring, and reporting for grants.
- Develop policies and procedures relevant to sound accounting practices.
- Receive, record, report and deposit all tuition revenues.
- Assist with the Director's budget - maintains statistical/financial records, staff and student records.
- Design banners, newspaper ads, program handbooks, and other media as necessary.
- Work with software company to create solutions and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Type and compose correspondence, reports and memos.
- Contribute to the team by accomplishing additional duties as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customer or employees.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form.
EVALUATION:
Performance evaluated by the Director of Community Education.
SUPERVISION:
Supervised by the Director of Community Education.
GRADE / SALARY SCHEDULE / LENGTH OF WORK YEAR:
Grade K $22.30-$27.33 (DOE)
