Position Summary
The Accounting Technician provides essential support across General Accounting, Transportation Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable functions. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive responsibilities while maintaining accurate financial and operational records.

Essential Responsibilities
General Accounting & Transportation
- Maintain physical and electronic records related to transportation equipment, fleet vehicles, and employee documentation.
- Manage the company's online fleet driver records, monitor DMV notifications, update files, and distribute required communications.
- Prepare fleet-related reports, tax filings, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain vehicle permit records and coordinate permit applications and renewals with appropriate agencies.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable DMV, DOT, and company requirements.
Accounting Operations Support
- Support the Accounts Receivable team with order processing, cash receipt processing, record maintenance, and related administrative duties.
- Assist with the Accounts Payable function by reviewing, coding, processing, and posting vendor invoices while maintaining organized documentation.
- Provide cross-functional support to other accounting team members as business needs require.
- Learn and utilize additional accounting software and business applications as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Familiarity with DMV and DOT licensing, permitting, and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Experience working with database systems such as Microsoft Access or similar applications.
- Experience using accounting software or ERP systems such as Acumatica, Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), or comparable platforms.
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications and web-based systems.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.
- A collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A high level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in accounting required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
- Relevant accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and demonstrated aptitude is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- None.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This is an onsite position located in our Batavia, NY office.
- Valid New York State Driver's License required.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to remain seated as needed during shift while performing computer-based work.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone as needed during shift.
- Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment as needed during shift.
