Essential Duties And Responsibilities~Maintains a complete set of records of financial transactions by overseeing, reviewing, and entering transaction details onto an established customer, project or fund accounting system. Ensures that account summary information equals control account balances. ~Verifies accuracy of amounts and postings of transactions. Posts and balances subsidiary ledgers and transfers data to general ledger. Traces transactions to determine discrepancies. ~Calculates items such as employee wages, time and material reports, equipment and supply costs, etc. Determines the proper account distribution. ~Prepares special statistical and financial reports for Administration requiring skill at researching information from financial data management systems. Reports will include those required to sustain grants and special funds. ~Develops estimates for cost-of-service, including labor, material, and overhead, for use in preparing budget proposals to grantors and agencies sponsoring special programs. ~Researches and assists with proposals for beneficial categorical programs. Analyzes and develops proposals and methods of enhancing reimbursement for categorical services to state agencies. ~Classifies, codes and consolidates charges, rates and related financial information to a automated accounting system. ~Ensures that pre-established accounting controls are applied to balance sheets, fund accounts and special accounts according to generally accepted accounting principles. ~Orients, trains and organizes work activities for new and lower level employees. ~Develops worksheets for consolidated reports and audits. ~Verifies accuracy of amounts and postings of transactions recorded by others. Posts and balances subsidiary ledgers such as A/P or A/R and transfers data to general ledger. Traces transactions to determine discrepancies. ~Prepares “trial balance” financial reports including the monthly closing of books. ~Manipulates data management systems to produce custom, yet recurring reports, requiring a working knowledge of the relationships of financial data. ~Performs the duties of Account Technician II and other related duties as required to carry out the objectives of the position. ~Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.Physical DemandsRequires sufficient visual acuity to recognize letters and numbers; sufficient hand-eye coordination to use a keyboard for routine typing and data entry; plus arm/hand movements to retrieve work materials and operate a variety of general office equipment.
