Accounting Technician

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Notice to Reader financial statements and corporate and personal tax returns
- Perform bank reconciliations and manage accounts receivable and payable
- Process payroll and complete WCB, GST, and T4 filings
- Maintain accurate accounting records and support year-end processes
- Prepare and issue invoices, statements, and other financial documentation
- Reconcile and verify transactions, including payables, receivables, payroll, and bank statements
- Assist with budgeting and cost analysis using historical and projected data
- Coordinate with contractors on client accounts, including setup, invoice tracking, and payment processing
- Respond to client inquiries and follow up on outstanding payments while maintaining strong relationships
- Support CPAs with file preparation, review bookkeeping work, and contribute to team deliverables
- Maintain organized records and provide general administrative support
- Participate in team meetings, mentorship, and ongoing professional development
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and highly reliable
- Strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach
- Experience with Caseware, Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, Taxprep, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and processes
Experience
- Proven experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero)
- Strong background in bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial reporting
- Experience with accounts payable/receivable and payroll processes
- Knowledge of accounting principles and compliance requirements
- Experience in a public practice or professional services environment is considered an asset
