Accounting Technician - District Office
This is a year round position. Starting wage is DOE.

DEFINITION
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer or designee, the Accounting Technician performs a variety of accounting and clerical duties supporting the district’s financial operations. This is a classified, generic position intended to support either Accounts Payable (AP) or Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, depending on assignment. Specific duties may vary by assignment; however, the position is expected to perform clearly defined tasks within established procedures to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial records.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Process day-to-day Accounts Payable transactions in accordance with District policies and timelines.
- Review invoices and requisitions for accuracy, completeness, proper coding, and required approvals prior to payment.
- Enter invoices into the financial system and allocate expenses to the appropriate account codes.
- Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
- Maintain vendor records, including W-9 forms and required documentation.
- Prepare and issue annual 1099 forms and respond to vendor inquiries related to payments.
General Accounting and Clerical Support:
- Assist with bank reconciliations and related financial reports as assigned.
- Upload Positive Pay files and assist with cash transfers to and from LGIP accounts, as directed.
- Review daily requisitions or financial documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with copying, binding, and assembling budget documents and other financial materials.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting records in accordance with retention requirements.
- Provide customer service to staff, vendors, and community members.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Mathematics, Business English, spelling, and punctuation;
- Computer-based data entry and data processing procedures;
- Current office practices, procedures, keyboarding, and equipment;
- Rules, regulations, procedures, and functions of the district;
- Accounting principles;
- Office management principles and ability to apply this knowledge.
Ability to:
- Ability to conduct one’s self in a professional manner in all forms of communication.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to follow instructions and respond to supervisor direction, maintain level of accountability for work output.
- Ability to meet challenges with resourcefulness and generate suggestions for improving work.

- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in professional development activities.
Experience:
- School district accounting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of district financial management systems preferred.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent as required by Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Department of Education and minimum of two years of directly related experience or;
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics or statistics.
