Northern Wasco County PUD is seeking a motivated Accounting Technician / AP Specialist to join our team. This full-time, non-exempt, position offers a Monday–Thursday, 4/10 schedule.
The Accounting Technician / Accounts Payable Specialist performs a broad range of accounting functions, with primary responsibility for full-cycle accounts payable processing and support across general ledger, financial reporting, accounts receivable, and budgeting activities. This role ensures accurate financial data, timely payments, and compliance with organizational policies while supporting month-end, audit, and reporting processes.

QUALIFICATIONS: Recommended Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications): Other combinations of education and/or experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to do the work will also be considered.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred
- 2-4 years of accounts payable or accounting experience preferred
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Process full-cycle accounts payable including entry, review, coding, and approval of invoices
- Manage check runs, ACH/wire payments, and positive pay files
- Manage vendor balances and resolve discrepancies
- Perform cash reconciliations and record financial transactions
- Assist with month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Prepare financial reports and update dashboards
- Support accounts receivable reconciliation and entries
- Assist with audits and annual reporting (including 1099s)
- Support budgeting and variance reporting
- Provide backup support for accounting functions

Secondary Functions:
- May assist in the tracking and creation of fixed assets as needed.
- All PUD employees are expected to work outside of normal business hours when required during emergency restoration activities and to accomplish other special projects.

Job Scope:

Physical Requirements: Requirements are those consistent with normal office administrative or clerical positions such as sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding. May push up to 50lbs, and/or lift, pull, or carry up to 25lbs.
