Job Description
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervising accounting personnel and overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the department. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, supports the month-end close process, and provides financial analysis to support business decision-making. The position works closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller to maintain strong internal controls, efficient processes, and high-quality financial information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities preferred
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff
- Review work performed by accounting personnel
- Assist in workload planning, delegation of tasks, and cross-training
- Foster a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative team environment
Day-to-Day Accounting Operations
- Oversee and support store-level accounting and bookkeeping activities
- Monitor and assist with credit card reconciliation and settlement processes
- Oversee processes related to cash, deposits, and tender reconciliation
- Manage and coordinate the process for establishing, renewing, and maintaining business licenses, permits, and registrations required for store operations
- Ensure timely and accurate filing and payment of applicable taxes (sales, use, etc.)
Month-End Close
- Assist with coordinating and executing the month-end close process
- Prepare journal entries with supporting documentation
- Ensure completion of account reconciliations and financial reporting deadlines
- Identify and implement improvements to streamline the close process
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and review financial reports, including variance analysis and trend analysis
- Analyze financial data to identify issues, risks, or opportunities for improvement
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, laws, and regulations

Physical Demands
Frequent physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, dexterity, and light grasping. Occasional physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs., bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs and firmly grasping. The employee is required to accept incoming calls and must be able to hear and speak. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. The associate must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer and other basic office equipment.
Work Environment and Working Conditions
This position will be performed inside a climate-controlled office facility. The noise level is low to medium and typical of an office environment. Potential hazards include electrical hazards. Atmospheric conditions are typical of an office environment and may include exposure to odors and dust.
