SUMMARY
Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is seeking a full-time, in-office Project Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting team at our Torrance headquarters.
The role is primarily responsible for project setup and maintenance within the Company's ERP system, supporting accurate project reporting, contract administration, revenue processes, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, eager to learn accounting operations, and possesses a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits. This position is designed as a developmental role within the Accounting Department. Successful candidates may have opportunities to progress into Staff Accountant and Senior Accountant positions based on performance, demonstrated accounting aptitude, and business needs.
This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & TASKS:
Project Setup & Administration (Approximately 50%)
- Create and maintain projects in the ERP system, ensuring accurate setup of billing, contract, reporting, revenue, and organizational information.
- Review project documentation for completeness and compliance with internal policies.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Operations personnel, and other departments to resolve project setup and reporting issues.
- Maintain digital records of contracts, amendments, project correspondence, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with process improvements and data quality initiatives related to project accounting activities.
Accounting & Financial Close Support (Approximately 30%)
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
- Prepare and reconcile accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
- Assist with revenue-related reporting and project financial analysis.
- Participate in account reconciliations and other accounting projects as assigned.
- Provide documentation and support during internal and external audits.
General Accounting & Administrative Support (Approximately 20%)
- Perform various accounting and administrative tasks to support the Accounting Department.
- Research and assist in resolving accounting and operational issues.
- Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and the relationship between transactions, debits, and credits.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Deltek experience preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently research issues and follow tasks through to completion.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build positive working relationships.
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and willingness to learn new concepts.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive company and client information.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, project administration, or related business experience.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Communications: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the phone.
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual responsibilities.
- Some lifting may be required on occasion. Help will be provided if needed.
Compensation:
Salary range is $27 - $30/hr. This is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role.
The pay scale for this role considers a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note, the disclosed pay scale estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location where the position may be filled.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive bonus program which is dependent on various factors, including, but not limited to individual and organizational performance.
