Job Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Accounting Specialist is to ensure the accurate and timely application of incoming payments to customer accounts, thereby maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records. This role is crucial for optimizing the cash flow process, reducing outstanding receivables, and ensuring efficient reconciliation of accounts. The Staff Accountant will also perform additional general accounting duties as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Process and apply incoming payments to the appropriate customer accounts.
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are accounted for.
- Maintain accurate records of all cash transactions.
- Communicate with customers to resolve payment discrepancies.
- Generate regular reports on cash applications and outstanding payments.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Suggest and implement improvements to increase process efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform general accounting duties, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing tasks.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or general business administration preferred.
- Accounting Experience: 3-5 years (required)
- Sage X3 Experience: 1-2 years (preferred)

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented individual with strong attention to detail
- Solid organization skills, such as multitasking and effective time-management
- Multi-tasker who can prioritize tasks to achieve time-sensitive deadlines

- Must pass Level 2 background check.

Laboratory staff can be expected to work in areas where hazards associated are with, but not limited to, airborne pathogens. Biological materials, hazardous substances, and radioactive material exist and are handled. Appropriate training is provided regarding these hazards and staff are expected to adhere to all health and safety policies at all times, whether they are in writing or verbalized by a supervisor.
