Accounting Officer
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board serves over 38,000 learners and provides services to students in 51 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adult learners) across the Waterloo Region.

The successful incumbent will report to the Accounting Supervisor, and will be responsible for:
- Accounts payable functions including cheque runs, journal entries and reconciliations
- Accounts receivable functions including preparation and payment collection including delinquent accounts
- Daily import of customer payments from bank and credit card companies
- Serving as back-up for the Accounting Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable and receivable department
- Working closely with various departments to ensure that accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and policies are adhered to
- Provide training on accounting portal for new staff as required
- Assisting with month end and quarterly reporting, including detailed reviews of programs and accounts
- Assisting with budget processes such as calculating lease revenues and analysis
- Assisting with month end account reconciliations and government remittances
- Assisting with year-end audit preparation
- Annual preparation of tax receipts for families registered with Extended Day program
- Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate will possess:
- Professional accounting designation or actively pursuing a designation
- 3+ years' experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology and advanced computer applications
- Advanced analytical skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and language skills
Desirable Assets - Preference will be given to candidates with:
- School board or other public sector experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central
Salary Range: PASS Level 5, $79,678 - $93,741 per year in accordance with the PASS Terms of Employment
Hours of Work: Permanent full time: 35 hours per week / 52 weeks per year
Location(s): Catholic Education Centre, 35 Weber St., Kitchener
On Site Work Requirements: The successful incumbent is to be available to work on-site for a minimum of four (4) days per week. During peak operational periods, this position may be required to work on-site up to five (5) days per week to support organizational needs.
