Accounting Officer – Floater (Term position) Finance Department Regina Campus

Under the general direction of the Comptroller, the Accounting Officer, Floater will be primarily responsible for issuing payment to suppliers in a timely manner.

Duties:

Responsible for ensuring confidentiality with respect to all information obtained in the performance of duties. Process cheques for payment to suppliers in a timely manner, including matching up purchase orders and invoices. Coordinate and process Travel Expense and Travel Advance claims, Professional Development Request claims, Elder Honorariums/Guest Lecturer Request claims, and Contract payments, ensuring proper approval prior to issuing payment. Maintain finance system including data entry on a daily basis. Assist with student account inquiries Assists with the preparation of variance reports and financial statements. Maintain the filing system for the Finance area. Provide holiday relief in a back-up capacity for the Accounting Officer(s). Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

Certificate in Business Administration with an Accounting focus or an Accounting Certificate. At least 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills required:

Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Demonstrated ability to meet regular deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Strong organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively.

Proficiency in the use of personal computers and related finance software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook). Ability to speak a First Nations language or has experience/education in accounting would be an asset. Understanding and appreciation of First Nation values, norms, and traditions.

Salary Range: APT Grade 3 ($58,234  - $78,342)
