Accounting Manager

Join SHAPE Technologies, a ~$450 million global manufacturing organization with plants and offices across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.  Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager is a key member of the accounting team supporting SHAPE's Baxter Springs, Kansas facility, the largest manufacturing operation within the SHAPE Technologies Group and home to the production of industry-leading ultrahigh-pressure pumps and spare parts for our waterjet cutting systems. 

The Accounting Manager leads day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial close processes, while helping ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. Partnering closely with operations and finance leadership, this role offers the opportunity to develop a talented team, improve processes, leverage technology, and contribute to the continued growth and success of SHAPE's flagship manufacturing facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

• Lead the accounting function for KMT Waterjet Systems, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information.
• Oversee all general accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and general ledger management.
• Review and approve complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounting analyses while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
• Drive the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, adherence to deadlines, and continuous improvement in close-cycle efficiency.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that strengthen financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance.
• Lead audit activities, including coordination with internal and external auditors, preparation of supporting schedules, and successful resolution of audit findings.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Controller to develop, mentor, and inspire a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate reporting requirements, policies, and regulations.
• Champion process improvement and automation initiatives by leveraging technology and best practices to increase efficiency, scalability, and data integrity across the finance function.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing accurate financial data and business insights.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of a world-class finance organization that supports the company's continued expansion in a global manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• In-depth understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and advanced knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Education/Experience and/or Training:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; supervisory experience required.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience with a background in public accounting; 5-7 years of experience in industry with no public accounting experience
• Accounting experience in a manufacturing company is preferred.
• CPA designation preferred.

Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Occasionally move throughout office and manufacturing environments. Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Occasionally lift and carry office materials weighing up to 15 pounds. Ability to view and analyze detailed financial data, reports, and computer screens.
