About the Opportunity:
Our client is looking to add an Accounting Manager to join their real estate investment, management, and development company. The ideal candidate will have experience managing multifamily residential real estate portfolios and be adept at overseeing multiple entities.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Reconcile bank statements
- Assist with quarterly and year-end closing processes
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements
- Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy of the books and records
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations
- Work with the accounts payable team to ensure the bookkeeping is accurate and no duplications of payments and bookings
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliation
- Assist with investor relations and lender and investor reporting requests
- Conduct financial due diligence for acquisitions and new lending facilities
- Oversee accounting for real estate development projects
- Track and report on project costs and budgets
- Work closely with the CFO to manage construction draws and loan requisitions
- Ensure proper capitalization of development costs
- Coordinate with project managers and development teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- Five (5)+ years of Real Estate accounting experience required
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts and accounting principles
- Familiarity with corporate accounting procedures and regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with Yardi, MRI or other real estate software preferred
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- CPA or CPA track is required
- Public accounting experience is a plus
