As the Accounting Manager for USRM Financial Operations Controls, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity of receivables across our $39 billion USRM business and GRS NA . This is a dynamic and challenging opportunity to apply your accounting expertise, collaborative leadership, and strategic mindset to an evolving landscape.
You will oversee the accurate and timely execution of book close and reporting activities, drive continuous improvement, and play a pivotal role in establishing a robust control environment within our newly modernized billing ecosystem—currently in the early stages of development.
The ideal candidate brings a balance of technical depth, leadership presence, and the ability to coach and inspire others to deliver their best work.
Key Responsibilities:
Book Close & Financial Reporting
- Lead the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual book close cycles through effective planning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Review and approve account reconciliations, GL balancing, and journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform and support the most complex accounting activities, financial analyses, and research—both within the team and across the organization.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Establish, document, and execute internal control procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Partner with internal and external auditors on all audit and attestation activities, including compliance risk assessments and annual accounts receivable confirmations.
- Plan and oversee control measures, proactively identifying and resolving issues when controls break down.
Systems, Data & Process Improvement
- Develop a deep understanding of how data flows through financial systems to the accounting function, planning appropriately for changes and recommending enhancements.
- Manage the integration of new vendors, systems, and product lines into reconciliation and balancing activities.
- Continually assess the business value and efficiency of work performed, identifying and implementing improvements—including building business cases for optimal solutions, vendors, and tools.
- Research and apply accounting policy to highly complex issues, developing scalable processes and communicating recommendations to senior management.
Strategic Partnership & Collaboration
- Oversee the relationship and workflows performed by our strategic partner EXL, facilitating seamless collaboration between our US and India-based teams.
- Lead and manage increasingly complex department projects and continuous improvement initiatives that may extend beyond your team's direct scope.
- Attend stakeholder sessions and demos and collaborate with development squads on system enhancements and strategic initiatives.
People Leadership & Development
- Foster the growth and development of direct reports through effective coaching, thoughtful development planning, and intentional shaping of assignments to leverage and expand capabilities.
- Champion and evolve employee-centric development programs, committees, and engagement activities, responsibly balancing these efforts with team utilization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent accounting experience, CPA preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Extensive experience dealing with statutory authorities and expertise on statutory matters and compliance requirements.
- Ability to assess and communicate financial implications of business plans and actions.
- Ability to display profit orientation and business results focus. Demonstrates business partnering ability and focus on business results.
- Ability to communicate in non-technical terms and present analysis in an understandable and concise manner.
- Knowledge of reinsurance concepts and related accounting.
