Accounting Manager
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role manages the month-end close process, supervises accounting staff, maintains compliance with accounting standards and company policies, and supports strategic financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal accounting policies.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
- Monitor and analyze financial results to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Compliance & Controls
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and financial reporting requirements.
- Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Budgeting & Analysis
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare management reports and other financial analyses as requested.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and decision-making.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a multi-entity or complex business environment.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
