Purpose
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s core accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and strengthening internal controls. This role serves as a key partner to the CFO and is being developed as part of the company’s long-term financial leadership succession plan.

Job Responsibilities
Specific Duties
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Review, approve, and/or prepare journal entries
- Oversee all balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely completion
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
- Prepare monthly financial statements for CFO review and executive presentation
- Assist with preparation of board-ready reporting packages
- Assist with preparation of audits
- Assists with preparation of tax reporting
Balance Sheet & Technical Accounting Ownership
- Own all balance sheet accounts, including:
- Fixed assets and depreciation schedules
- Prepaid expenses and accruals
- Intercompany (if applicable)
- Ensure proper GAAP compliance and documentation
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies proactively
Accounts Payable Oversight
- Oversee Accounts Payable function
- Ensure proper coding, approvals, and timely payment processing
- Maintain and improve AP internal controls
- Support vendor relationship management
- Manages accounting for pre-pay invoices
- Manages accounting of fixed-assets and CIP accounts
Variance & Financial Analysis
- Prepare monthly variance analysis (actual vs. budget and prior period)
- Identify trends and financial risks
- Provide commentary and insights to CFO
- Support forecasting and budgeting processes
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
- Document processes and ensure audit readiness
- Identify automation opportunities and efficiency improvements
- Support external audit requests (if applicable)
Leadership Development
- Provide guidance and training to accounting staff
- Promote accountability and accuracy within the accounting team
- Develop cross-functional financial knowledge to prepare for future leadership roles
Education and Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- 4–7+ years progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience leading or reviewing full-cycle accounting
- Advanced experience in balance sheet reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
