A publicly traded corporation located in New York is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its corporate accounting team on a permanent basis. The Accounting Manager will oversee the general accounting function, lead the month-end close process, and support financial reporting and operational accounting activities across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong corporate accounting experience within a complex environment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analyses
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies
- Lead balance sheet reconciliation processes and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Partner with FP&A, tax, operations, and leadership teams on accounting-related matters
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including reviewing work product and supporting professional development
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Participate in system implementations, automation initiatives, and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- CPA preferred
- Straight public experience will suffice
- Big 4 background strongly preferred
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting and/or large corporate environments
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and general accounting operations
- Experience managing full-cycle accounting and close processes
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
