Accounting Manager

A publicly traded corporation located in New York is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its corporate accounting team on a permanent basis. The Accounting Manager will oversee the general accounting function, lead the month-end close process, and support financial reporting and operational accounting activities across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have strong corporate accounting experience within a complex environment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analyses
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies
• Lead balance sheet reconciliation processes and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Partner with FP&A, tax, operations, and leadership teams on accounting-related matters
• Support internal and external audit requests
• Assist with implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including reviewing work product and supporting professional development
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies
• Participate in system implementations, automation initiatives, and special projects as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is required
• CPA preferred
• Straight public experience will suffice
• Big 4 background strongly preferred
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting and/or large corporate environments
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and general accounting operations
• Experience managing full-cycle accounting and close processes
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
