What You Will Do

As a key member of our Finance Team, the Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the financial health, accuracy, and integrity of a diverse portfolio of real estate, construction, and operating entities. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you'll lead the day-to-day accounting function, oversee a talented accounting team, and play a critical role in delivering timely financial information that supports strategic business decisions.

Whether you're reviewing reconciliations, leading month-end close, supporting audits, strengthening controls, or mentoring team members, you'll be the trusted financial leader ensuring everything balances behind the scenes. Working closely with Property Management teams, you'll help ensure operational processes, tenant administration, and financial reporting remain accurate, compliant, and efficient.

·         Lead the month-end and year-end close process across multiple entities

·         Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and working papers

·         Oversee general ledger integrity, intercompany accounting, and account analysis

·         Guide and support the Accounting team

·         Support the financial aspects of the tenant lifecycle, ensuring accurate records, receivables administration, documentation controls, and system integrity

·         Maintain and improve accounting workflows, internal controls, and approval processes across departments

·         Monitor tenant and vendor account activity, identifying issues and supporting timely resolution

·         Manage HST filings, remittances, and regulatory compliance

·         Coordinate year-end audit preparation and external accountant requests

·         Partner with operational teams to support business objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives

What You Bring to the Table

·           CPA designation

·           5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities

·           Experience managing full-cycle accounting and month-end close processes

·           Strong knowledge of ASPE, financial reporting, and internal controls

·           Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data

·           Experience supervising, coaching, and developing accounting professionals

·           Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

·           Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

·           Effective communicator who can translate financial information into practical insights

·           Professional judgment, discretion, and a solutions-focused mindset

·           Experience with multi-entity organizations is considered a strong asset

·           Property management, development, construction, or project accounting experience an asset

·           Experience with Yardi Voyager, Spectra, QuickBooks, or similar systems an asset

·           Continuous improvement mindset with a passion for building efficient processes

Work Environment

Based in our Halifax Head Office, this role operates in a collaborative and professional office environment where finance plays a central role in supporting business success. You'll spend much of your time analyzing financial information, reviewing transactions, and working closely with team members across multiple departments. The role offers a balance of independent focus and collaborative problem-solving, with increased activity around month-end, year-end, budgeting, audit, and reporting cycles.
