Job Summary
The Accounting Manager is a key member of the finance team, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions, including AP processing, assist with payroll when necessary, working closely with the leadership team to support the health center’s mission of providing high-quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, cash management, and other core accounting functions.
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the accounting system
- Record and reconcile daily bank deposits.
- Process and code AP invoices through ACH or paper checks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Serves as main point of contact for external accounting partners.
- Collaborate with leadership team to ensure appropriate allocation of expenses and timely grant drawdowns.
- Assist with annual financial reviews.
- Develop, document, and monitor internal control policies to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in corrective action plans and strengthen segregation of duties and reconciliation processes.
- Serves as alternative point of contact for all payroll functions.

Competencies
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting (FASB 958)
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., MIP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities, with capacity to manage and develop a team.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to the Organization’s mission.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required;
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience required;
- Prior experience in nonprofit healthcare or Federally Qualified Health Centers strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Primarily sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, and light lifting (1–5 lbs.). Standard office environment with regular use of computer and telephone.
