Our client, a nationally ranked organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to support a portfolio of mission-driven nonprofit organizations. This is a high-visibility opportunity to join a collaborative, growth-oriented team supporting nonprofit clients across the country in a fully remote environment.
About the Role
Location: Fully remote (DMV preferred, not required)
Team: 35-person nonprofit FAO practice
Reason for Opening: Continued practice growth and long-term succession planning
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations for multiple nonprofit clients
- Oversee monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
- Ensure accurate fund accounting and grant compliance
- Assist with audit preparation and external auditor coordination
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff within a multi-client environment
- Partner with leadership on process improvements and technology optimization initiatives
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of accounting/finance experience
- Strong nonprofit accounting experience (fund accounting, grants, donor restrictions)
- Prior outsourced accounting, or public accounting experience preferred
- Experience reviewing work and managing staff
- CPA preferred
- Experience with systems such as Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms
