Responsibilities
JOBDESCRIPTION:
The Accounting Manager will provide direct oversight and leadership to motivate a team of accountants to accomplish the client’s objectives. The position is accountable for client satisfaction by ensuring accurate monthly financials are provided to the client along with providing excellent customer service to the clients and property managers they work with. The Accounting Manager will also provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to the Newmark employees assigned to them.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Review of monthly financial reports prepared by the accountants to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Responsible for ensuring staff is following client and Newmark policy and procedures.
Assist the client with any one-off requests and ensure the team is providing a high level of customer service to property managers and clients.
Think outside the box for creative ways to continuously improve the way services are delivered to the client so that client accounting objectives are achieved.
Provide one-on-one and team training to develop the skills of staff through frequent communication with team.
Motivate staff to ensure all deadlines are met.
Responds to and resolves issues and requests from management teams and clients. Research open accounting issues and recognize potential issues and/or conflicts.
May Assist property managers with budget preparation.
May Assist property managers with Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations or be responsible for completing the CAM reconciliations or calculating and posting monthly/quarterly CAM true-up entries
Responsible for assisting with client audits by providing requested documents and answering questions.
Responsible for providing review of internal audit samples for SOC1(client accounting audit report produced annually) audit
Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations and divisions.
Assist in structuring the work plan for the portfolio and executing it through a disciplined application of client accounting policies and procedures.
Support client accounting initiatives.
May perform other duties as assigned
SKILLS, EDUCATIONANDEXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in accounting or equivalent experience (minimum of 3-5 years of previous accounting experience.
Experience with full cycle accounting
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Microsoft Excel, Teams and Outlook
Experience with a computerized accounting system required, experience with Yardi or MRI system a plus.
Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Excellent people and managerial skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to analyze and problem solve effectively by offering solutions to resolve issues.
Ability to read and understand complex documents such as lease agreement and property management agreements
