Accounting Manager
Our client located in Houston, TX needs an Accounting Manager. This is a direct hire, hybrid opportunity.

Legal Firm with multiple locations.
Accounting Manager Role:
Responsible for managing and integrating core accounting functions, including general ledger, billing, and accounts payable
Ensures accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting in compliance with law firm accounting standards and internal controls
Reports directly to the Controller and serves as a key leader within the accounting function
Oversees month end and year end close processes, audit support, and financial reporting activities
Provides hands on oversight of accounting operations within a legal or professional services environment
Requires strong technical accounting expertise and advanced system knowledge, preferably Aderant
Leads process improvement initiatives across accounting, billing, and AP functions
General Ledger and Financial Close
Manage general ledger activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis
Oversee month end and year end close processes
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
Support audits, financial reviews, and reporting requests
Billing and Revenue Operations
Oversee full billing cycle including monthly billing, write offs, adjustments, and cancellations
Resolve complex billing, timekeeping, and origination issues
Partner with attorneys and leadership on billing questions and compliance
Accounts Payable and Disbursements
Manage vendor payments, reimbursements, and expense processing
Ensure proper coding and adherence to approval controls
Oversee client disbursements and vendor compliance
Systems and Process Improvement
Maintain advanced knowledge of legal accounting systems, preferably Aderant
Support system enhancements and reporting improvements
Improve workflows, controls, and accounting processes across departments
Leadership and Supervision
Supervise accounting, billing, and accounts payable staff
Oversee workload distribution and performance management
Train and develop team members and establish best practices
Ensure coverage during peak periods and staff absences
