Position Description: The Accounting Intern supports the Accounting team to assist in the routine accounting functions of the Internal Operations Department, while gaining hands-on experience in accounting processes and systems. This position additionally performs accounting project work according to department needs. The Accounting Intern reports to the Senior Accounting Manager.

Essential duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

Primary

·       Perform data entry tasks utilizing accounting software and systems.

·       Process accounting transactions accurately and within established deadlines.

·       Assist with other accounting processes as needed, including billing, invoicing, deposits, and internal auditing.

·       Complete accounting project work as needed and assigned.

·       Assist in analyzing and improving department processes and creating SOP’s.

·       Attend required training sessions and internship activities.

 

Department and Other Support

·       Active participation in all-team meetings and activities.

·       Provide collaboration for other Association teams as needed.

·       Attend progress report and department meetings as required.

·       Keep Outlook calendar up to date.

Technical Qualifications

 

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook.

·       Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

·       Knowledge of and experience with financial systems software a plus.

·       Ability to work with a variety of electronic devices including laptop, smart phone, and tablet.

Minimum Requirements and Experience

 

·       High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

·       Degree or coursework in Accounting or Business preferred.

 

Physical/Mental Environment

 

·       In-person office attendance required.

·       In-person attendance required for trainings and All-Team staff events.

·       Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

·       Regularly required to stand, walk and sit; use hands to handle objects and feel controls; reach; climb stairs; stoop; crouch; talk; listen; and vision capabilities that enable reading and viewing a computer screen.  Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

·       Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
