Position Title: Accounting Intern

Reports to: Director, Accounting & Tax

Department: Finance

FLSA: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Program Period: October – End of 2026-27 Sacramento Kings Season

Job Summary: As an Accounting Intern, you will play an integral role in assisting with various accounting tasks, data entry, payables processing, expense coding, annual financial audit preparation, financial report generation, and other responsibilities that contribute to the overall efficiency of our business.

Responsibilities: 

• Assisting with accounting projects that support our financial goals.

• Accurate and timely data entry to maintain financial records.

• Processing payables and ensuring compliance with financial protocols.

• Coding expenses for streamlined tracking and analysis.

• Collaborating in the preparation of annual financial audits.

• Generating financial reports to aid in decision-making processes.

• Undertaking any other tasks that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our business operations.

Qualifications:

• Current college student pursuing a four-year college program, ideally at the Junior, Senior, or Graduate level. A major in Accounting, Sports Management, or a related field is preferable.

• Previous work experience in accounting is a valuable asset.

• Basic understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, journal entries, and adjusting entries.

• Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all financial tasks.

• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

To qualify for Kings University internships, you must be:

• Currently enrolled in college or have graduated within 12 months

• Able to commute to the downtown Sacramento office

• Able to work up to 25 hours per week

Interns will be compensated $17.50 per hour and receive benefits such as California Paid Sick Leave, discounts on Sacramento Kings merchandise, and free parking.
