Accounting Intern – Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our team in the construction industry. This position offers hands-on experience supporting the accounting team with daily tasks while learning construction-specific financial practices such as job cost tracking and subcontractor payments.

This is a great opportunity for someone pursuing a degree in accounting or finance who wants real-world experience in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with accounts payable, including invoice entry and tracking subcontractor payments.
• Support employee purchasing card tracking and documentation.
• Help with basic accounting tasks such as data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Assist with maintaining job cost records and organizing project-related financial data.
• Support the accounting team with month-end close activities.
• Help prepare reports and gather data for audits and tax preparation.
• Assist with process improvement projects and system updates, including ERP-related tasks.

Education, Experience, & Skills:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles (through coursework or prior internship).
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Comfortable working with Excel and learning new software systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Preferred (but not required):

• Interest in construction accounting or job costing.
• Experience with accounting or project management software (e.g., Procore, GCPay, or similar).
• Previous internship or part-time accounting experience.
